Allan on Avon Spirit

Software developer joins LuckyDuck

In 1973, Allan landed in Nova Scotia dreaming of salt water and boat building.

Most recently, he worked for seven years as a C++ software developer in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

During the two decades before his programming career, he built a solid reputation as a shipwright in Lunenburg County. He took part in the construction of inshore fishing boats, offshore vessels and several yachts, as well as many vessel refits.

More than once, the refits were of Nova Scotia's Sailing Ambassador, Bluenose II.

the Avon Spirit

Allan most enjoyed using traditional materials and techniques. His last project, as one of five from Snyder's Shipyard, was a fine summation of his years as shipwright. Fifty-three feet long on deck, the beautiful topsail schooner replica was christened Avon Spirit.

Now Allan brings both his finely-honed design sense, as well as his programming experience, to LuckyDuck web design.

Rory was a "Greyt" Dog and Tas is too!

Dog walks beach

Rory, 1995 - 2007, loved to go on photo shoots. In 1998, we adopted him from Greyhound Pets of Atlantic Canada (GPAC) and we never looked back!

Tas' portrait

More recently, we learned of Tas. At nearly eight years of age, despite his fine health and youthful personality, it would be difficult for GPAC to find him a family. What else could we do but welcome him into our home and our hearts?
